What does being a Spatial Storyteller mean?
Written by Chris BrownCreative Director
The oldest technology in the world is a story. We just give it walls.
Our Creative Director Chris Brown delves into what it means to be Spatial Storytellers.
Spatial storytelling is the method of taking the tenets and principles found in traditional narrative, and using them to help brands create physical, real-world customer experiences that make visitors feel encased in the story. Like they’re a part of it. Stories you literally step into.
The framework of a story (the challenge faced, the protagonists, the transformation, the rise and the resolution): a space can facilitate this.
Through physical presence, captivating narrative, and the activation of the senses, the human mind can create positive memories of experiences. And if a brand is attached to this experience, it solidifies it, creating a stronger long-term brand affinity than any ad could. Because it’s real. It’s experienced. Lived.
“If you seek to understand and access any human emotion, study stories.”
Chris Brown, Creative Director
They are the strongest path to inducing emotion. And physical spaces are our canvas. We design long-term connection that lasts, between brand, place and person. Placemaking through narrative.
Stories have been with us since birth. Heck, they’ve been with us since the dawn of humanity. They hold our attention and our emotions. Think of our childhood, with guardians and teachers reading a story. Think now how our minds tell us tales that shape our reality.
So whether you’re a brand with a unique heritage or product to share; a museum or gallery with a moment in science or history to unpack; or a cultural organisation looking to define legacy in a destination: Seeper designs innovative ways to create emotional bonds with visitors, with narrative at their foundation.
